The intention of this project was to explore consumption through physical restriction and natural forms. The creation of this mask follows the narrative of a creature being consumed by a fungus. To show this, I used a natural texture and rich red color to represent life and angular polygonal forms that fade to gray to represent the sapping of energy. This mask was made entirely of paper; I constructed the base and fungal shapes using a strong cardboard and glued small, individual sheets of thin tubes of paper onto the base to create the texture. I greatly enjoyed the countless hours I spent creating this mask, all of my favorite work to do involves meticulous tasks and rich texture.
