This graphic required an immense amount of data organization. Though there were ways to input and automate the information gathering, I found it helpful to visually sort every purchase I made in the year of COVID. Using Miro, I placed every purchase I made onto a sticky note detailing the time, amount, and place of purchase. I placed my purchases into relevant categories using color, then sorted my data different ways to see if I could find trends. I found the most interesting way of viewing this data was by adding up amounts spent during particular times of quarantine. However, I found that when added all up, I spent almost the same amount on necessary things vs superfluous spending.
This concept became the basis for my final graphic.
